“This Is My Hair”. Soft, Shiny, Proud
Mona’s journey from school-day teasing to a simple routine that gave her soft, shiny, defined curls she can wear anywhere.
This is my hair. Soft, shiny, and proudly mine.
Meet Mona
“Unapologetically unique, doesn’t care to be common, and powerful.” That’s how Mona would describe her hair’s personality. She remembers the sting of being teased for frizz at school, yet she also remembers the quiet triumph of looking in the mirror after the right routine clicked and thinking, “This is my hair.”
Her goal today is simple. Soft, shiny definition that feels elegant anywhere. A beach day or an interview.

Work & Hobbies
Work or Study. Fourth-year marketing student at Cairo University.
Hobbies. Reading about fashion, beauty, business, and entrepreneurship. Big into self care and hair.
The Hair Day I’ll Never Forget
Worst. Being teased at school for frizz. Kids called it “electricity,” pushed my hair, took photos, and laughed.
Best. The day the routine finally worked. My curls dried soft, shiny, and defined. I looked in the mirror and thought, “This is my hair.”
The Turning Point
Social media showed Mona that curls can be cared for properly. Real creators. Real techniques. Better local products. Family compliments sealed it. “That’s when it clicked.”
The Transition Phase
The first week was not perfect. The best week came when she styled on damp hair, layered a moisturizing Leave-In then Gel, and distributed thoroughly. The result felt fluffy, soft, and very shiny.
What I Learned
- Ingredients and intent matter. Choose products that truly moisturize rather than just coat.
- Shampoo the scalp. Not the lengths.
- Technique is everything. Section and distribute thoroughly until every strand is coated.
- Myth check. Oils add shine or greasiness but do not detangle for her. The real goal is hair that detangles easily after the shower with proper moisture.

Compliments That Stuck
“My aunt, who never liked my curls, stared at my hair while greeting me. Later she started sending me curly-hair videos on WhatsApp.” That shift meant everything.
One Mistake, Big Lesson
- Putting sulfate shampoo on lengths.
- Daily vinegar experiments to “straighten.”
- A protein treatment that caused breakage. Extra caution when dealing with anemia or Vitamin D deficiency.
Routine Snapshot
My Go-To Technique
“Section hair. Apply Leave-In and Gel like a mask so every strand is coated.” Brush-distribute for even coverage, then use a styling brush to form curl clumps. Refresh front pieces with water spray plus a touch of Leave-In.
Sister-to-sister tip. Section. Apply like a mask. Then brush-distribute every strand.
Why Curlit Mattered
- Discovery. Repeated creator content on Instagram and TikTok built trust and showed real results.
- Go-tos. Curly Leave-In for softness, shine, hydration, and easy refresh. Especially for brittle front pieces. The Gel locks it in.
- Results. More definition, high shine, easier detangling, and a routine that feels reliable.
- Wish list. A jumbo 400 ml size and an expanded line with mask, shampoo, and conditioner.
- Three words. Soft. Shiny. Fluffy.
